Idol gives back (and so should you)

Yes, I am a faithful American Idol addict. Last night they had a special 2 hour show where they were raising money to help children in America and Africa.

I remember when Oprah built her school in Africa, some people were up in arms about her building something there instead of helping people here. But, being an American myself, I couldn't help but think, they need help much more than our kids here do.

Granted, I know some people in America are in really bad shape and it's sad, but the kids in Africa have it much worse.

They did a brief story last night on how 10 dollars buys enough HIV meds to save 4 children for a month and another story how 25 dollars can buy kids in America "Emotional healing kits" complete with a radio and a football.

I know, physical and emotional needs are equally important to anyone but I found myself saying "I hope my money goes to saving a kid in Africa rather than letting some kid here play football".

I gave a large enough donation that perhaps kids on both continents can be helped.

Please go to their site a donate. Remember just 10 dollars will help you save a kid (at least for another month). It's not a lot of money and frankly, if you have a pc and have internet access to read this post, you have the 10 bucks to spare.

I'm getting more and more into helping causes these days (animals my chief concern). I guess I'm just tired of waiting on other people to do something.

Please do your part. We're all one, let's start acting like it.
